1. YouTube is adding shopping features to Shorts. The new shopping features allow users to buy products as they scroll through Shorts. (Tech Crunch โ๏ธ)

The pilot program allows creators to tag their own products featured in the video.
There is also an affiliate marketing program in testing. Creators will receive a commission for recommended products bought via their Shorts or regular YouTube videos.
The company is starting to introduce the features to eligible creators in the United States. YouTube plans to continue expanding to more creators and countries.
These changes give creators more monetization opportunities. YouTube is trying to win market share by attracting creators from other short-video platforms.
2. Shopify Is Now a Google Shopping Competitor. Shopify is testing a new feature that allows customers to search across all sellers on the platform. Shoppers can search for their purchased items, sellers matching a search term, and products sold by any Shopify seller. The new universal search feature positions Shopify as a product discovery platform. Which can rival Amazon & Google Shopping. (Search Engine Land โ๏ธ)
3. Whatsapp & Messenger are expected to drive the next wave of Meta's revenue. Mark Zuckerberg described the apps as being "very early in monetizing" compared to its other products. Meta is working to monetize Whatsapp and Messenger further. (Reuters โ๏ธ)
4. Google continues to expand new Multisearch technology. Google Multisearch allows users to snap a picture, and add text. Google generates results based on that image/text combination. This feature started rolling out earlier this year and recently expanded to food queries. Now users can take a picture of a meal and the text "near me" to see a list of relevant local restaurants. 5. Samsung's new partnership allows advertisers to use Experian data across Smart TVs. Samsung has over 8 million connected TVs across the UK. Experian's data opens up advanced targeting options for advertisers. This includes demographic, geographic, attitudinal, and vertical insights. (BroadbandTV news โ๏ธ)
