🗞️ Digital Marketing Must-Knows

5️⃣ Biggest Headlines From Last Week

Hello everyone; we are back to the usual programming this week with the 5 biggest Digital Marketing headlines. I hope you enjoy and share with a marketing friend who'll find it useful.

📰 Round up

1. Microsoft launched an Advertising model to help Retailers further monetize their websites. Microsoft wants to bring the growing but fragmented Retail Media Advertising space under one roof.

  • 'Retail Media' is where individual retailers sell advertising space on their own websites/apps (or physical stores) to advertisers. With the advertisers able to target based on the retailer's third-party data.

  • Walmart, Best Buy, and CVS are some examples of large retailers that released their own advertising solutions.

  • Microsoft's pitch is to simplify the process for advertisers and retailers. Microsoft is creating a network of a growing number of retailers. And creating a one-stop-shop for advertisers to place ads on the retailer's digital properties within Microsoft's Advertising platform.

  • The company also plans to help power retailers’ offline media too.

What's behind the growing Retail Media trend?

"As advertisers lose signals about consumers, any company with a captive audience—be they an app or retailer—can potentially make a few extra billion dollars by running ads, a sign that walled gardens are growing greener than ever."
