Just In: TikTok Launches Search Ads

FEATURE

TikTok launches Search Advertising

After much speculation, TikTok has finally launched Search Ads.

For advertisers running in-feed video campaigns on TikTok, there is now a ‘Toggle’ to show ads on TikTok’s search page (in addition to the traditional feed).

Ads will be shown when TikTok considers the search to be related to the advertiser’s product.

Quick facts:

  • Search video ads will appear alongside organic videos.

  • Once a user clicks on a search video ad, the ad mirrors the in-feed TikTok experience, with users able to continue scrolling through the search results in the order they appear on the page.

  • TikTok does not allow advertisers to select the keywords they want to appear against.

  • But advertisers can see which search terms they show ads for.

  • The Search Ads Toggle is available now in the US and in-testing in other markets

While this is not a traditional search campaign, where advertisers select the keywords they want to appear against, expect TikTok to keep building features on top of their search experience.
