Unlikely Shopify-Amazon Alliance

FEATURE

Shopify Partners With Amazon Prime

In 2021, Shopify’s founder famously said, "Amazon is trying to build an empire, and Shopify is trying to arm the rebels.”

So it was a big surprise when, this week, the two companies became partners.

Shopify announced that they will enable stores to offer ‘Buy with Prime’ at checkout.

That means Prime customers can use their membership perks like free delivery and easy returns service when buying from Shopify stores.

The big criticism of selling through Amazon is not having visibility on who your customers are.

But with this partnership, Shopify stores will retain “100% control over their customer data”. And get to leverage the convenience factor that drives many people to shop with Amazon in the first place.
