ChatGPT opened up its search feature to all Pro subscribers, with plans to gradually roll it out to free accounts too.

The search tool seems to be powered by Bingā€™s index, though ChatGPT isnā€™t simply copying Bingā€™s results.

OpenAIā€™s VP of Engineering explained, ā€œWe use a set of services, and Bing is an important one.ā€

But ChatGPT ranks content independently, so results wonā€™t look quite the same as Bingā€™s.

As a practical step, you can start using (or dust off your login for) Bing Webmaster Tools to see your organic Bing performance.

Another bold move: ChatGPT released a Chrome extension that automatically changes your default browser to SearchGPT.
