OpenAI Search Engine expected (but not this week)

Last week, Reuters reported that OpenAI would unveil a search engine at an event on Monday.

While the timing is off, and ChatGPT 4o was the big reveal yesterday, The Information & Bloomberg, have separately confirmed that search is on the roadmap for OpenAI.

In a recent interview with Lex Friedman, Sam Altman hinted that the organization could enter the AI search competition.

The thing that’s exciting to me is not that we can go build a better copy of Google search.

But that maybe there’s just some much better way to help people and act on and synthesize information.

In related news, Bloomberg also reported this week that OpenAI and Apple are in advanced talks to replace Siri with ChatGPT.
