Netflix is doubling down on advertising
Netflix has almost doubled its ad-supported subscriber base since May, which now totals 70 million.
The plan, priced at $6.99 USD per month, now accounts for more than half of all new Netflix sign-ups in regions where it is available.
Netflix's cheapest plan without advertising costs $15.49 a month.
With the launch of live sports later this week, Netflix expects demand to continue to rise significantly.
Netflix’s in-house advertising technology has now launched in Canada and will roll out globally throughout 2025 to support the growing demand.

Web users will pay €5.99/month down from €9.99 and iOS/Android users will pay €7.99/month from €12.99. Existing subscribers will see the price drop automatically, with no action required.

Meta will soon let EU users opt for "less personalized" ads on Instagram and Facebook for free. Instead of ads tailored by browsing history, they will be based on session-specific content and basic demographics like age and location.
