Meta AI is now capable of providing users with real-time search results from both Google and Bing. The decision to use either search engine or natural language for answering prompts is at Meta's discretion and positions Meta as an alternative to ChatGPT and Google's upcoming Search Generative Experience rollout.

The chat assistant, which Zuckerberg claims is "the most intelligent free chatbot available publicly," is being rolled out across Meta's family of apps, including Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Meta has also launched a dedicated website for the tool at meta.ai to maximize adoption.

Availability: Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

TikTok Notes - an Instagram competitor - debuts in Canada & Australia. TikTok confirmed in a post on X that they are only testing the app at this stage. Unlike Instagram, TikTok Notes’ feed features a grid that displays multiple posts at once. Users can click on an individual post to view it in full-screen mode to read or leave comments.

Meta is expected to launch ads on Threads this year. According to Digiday, Advertising Executives have been told that ads will soon be available for the first time on the platform. The launch could come as early as the second half of this year.

Elon hints at bringing back Vine again. The predecessor to TikTok was originally shut down in 2017 when Vine videos were deactivated. Now Logan Paul’s Vine videos and page have been reactivated by X.

Amazon has introduced a free live TV channel to Prime Video. The new channel will feature 24/7 programming from creators and celebrities. The channel is supported by advertising and viewers can browse and buy the items they see using the Amazon app on their mobile devices.

Third-party iPhone app store, AltStore PAL, is now live in Europe. AltStore PAL is (an Apple-approved) alternative app marketplace to Apple's iOS app store. The open-source project enables users to install apps on iOS devices in Europe without having to go through Apple's app store.

Reddit will use AI to translate posts. According to Reddit’s IPO documentation, half of Reddit’s daily active unique users are outside the United States. With the planned update, comments will start to be translated into the local language of the user to increase conversations on the platform.

LinkedIn is testing a Premium Company Page subscription. The Premium Company Page subscription, for $99/month — will include AI to write content and new tools to grow follower counts, along with more features to raise the profiles of the companies.
