Google Shopping gets 4 new AI tools

FEATURE

Google has 4 new AI tools for shoppers to personalize their product search experience (initially in the U.S.).

To learn what products to show a user, Google will show a series of product styles that users can either give a thumbs up or thumbs down. Users can also use a Tinder-like swipe gesture to rate the products.

Based on the preferences, Google will serve up shoppable product recommendations. Google will remember the preferences for next time too.

Additionally:

  • Users can select their favorite brands. Within the Google shopping experience, Google will show products from those brands more often.

  • Google has developed an AI tool for shoppers to create an image of the product they are looking for. Google will try to find actual products that are similar to the AI image.

  • Lastly, users can virtually try on men’s and women’s tops using desktop, mobile, or the Google app. Google found that after engaging with virtual try-ons shoppers are more likely to buy.

Like Google, Amazon is also investing in AI-personalized product recommendations. Amazon announced their AI shopping assistant, Rufus, earlier this year.
