Your round-up of the 5 (or so) most important updates of the week:

1. Facebook is “working to keep services available” after Russia reportedly blocked access to the social network last Friday. Meta, Google, Apple, Twitter and Snap have all ceased advertising sales in Russia. TikTok has stopped the ability to upload videos from the country.

2. Pinterest announced that it is adding a checkout within the Pinterest app for Shopify retailers. Pinterest also unveiled ‘Your Shop’. Where Pinterest will show brands and products based on users’ Pinterest activity.

3. Twitter launched ‘Shops’ in beta in the US. Retailers can select up to 50 products to showcase on their Twitter profiles. There will be a “View shop” button placed above the tweets of the retailers.

4. Disney+ is set to launch an ad-supported subscription later this year. Disney expects to expand its customer base with a lower-priced subscription offset by advertising.  The price point is still TBC.

5. Uber aims to generate $1bn+ in ad revenue by 2024. They generated $141 million in ad revenue in 2021. Their new ads Chief picked out the core rider app, cap tops, and in-car tablets as key placements to offer to advertisers.
