Robinhood expands Content Strategy

Robinhood acquires UK-based Chartr as it expands content company portfolio. This is the latest in a growing list of examples of software companies buying content/media companies as a long-term customer acquisition tool.

Stock trading company Robinhood is also planning to expand into news, print magazines, events and audio as part of their investment into content and diversify from Google and Facebook ads.

Other recent examples include Hubspot’s acquisition of The Hustle, Zapier & Markerpad, and Stripe & Indiehackers.

X and Threads alternative Bluesky is open to the public. The release comes after a year of being invitation-only. Bluesky was funded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. (Tech Crunch)

Meta is collaborating with industry partners to create standards for identifying AI-generated content such as images. And will label them accordingly on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. (Meta)
