Welcome back,
ChatGPT just got a new job: personal shopper. ChatGPT is now recommending products from stores like Amazon & Walmar complete with prices, star ratings, and links to buy. OpenAI said they are working a feed connection so brands can provide their product information directly to ChatGPT.

Feature
🛒 ChatGPT is your new Shopping Assistant

ChatGPT now recommends products based on users' conversations. Google Shopping-style product cards are displayed with images, star ratings, prices, and direct links to purchase.
The checkout process is completed on external websites (like Amazon, Walmart).
Adam Fry, ChatGPT’s Search Product Lead, clarified a few key points in an interview with WIRED.
“They are not ads. It’s trying to understand how people are reviewing this, how people are talking about this, what the pros and cons are.”
That highlights some of the key differences with shopping on Google:
No ads (yet)
Users’ shopping preferences are remembered
Product recommendations are informed more by reviews, editorials and forums like Reddit (less reliance on keywords)
Want to make sure your products are eligible to appear in ChatGPT?
Like a search engine, ChatGPT uses a web crawler - so OpenAI recommends making sure its not blocked.
ChatGPT is creating its own product feed integration so brands can connect their product information directly. You can sign up to be notified when this feed becomes available, at the bottom of this page.
Over a billion searches happen inside ChatGPT every week. Now it will shape what products people discover and buy.
