Apple answers EUā€™s gatekeeper rules

FEATURE

iPhone and iPad users in the European Union will soon be able to download apps from alternative sources to Appleā€™s App Store.

Apps in the EU no longer need to use Appleā€™s payment processing either, which charges commissions of up to 30% on transactions.

Instead, if a company uses an alternative app store and payment processes Apple will not charge a Commission. However if an app exceeds 1 million installs in a year, Apple will charge ā‚¬0.50 per install as a ā€œCore Technology Feeā€.

Last year, Meta confirmed their interest in creating an app store. Which could free them from the tracking restrictions imposed on them by Apple with ATT.
