Apple’s Safari browser tipped to get “Intelligent Search”
Apple's upcoming WWDC could bring some big updates to Safari.
Reports suggest that Safari 18 could introduce an “Intelligent Search” feature that analyzes and summarizes web page content. Apple has been gathering website data for years through its own web crawler, which could be used on a larger scale in the Safari browser.
Google has an open legal battle concerning whether their payments to Apple (amounting to $20bn in 2022) breach monopoly rules. If the ruling goes against Google, and the payments stop, Apple could be incentivized to offer more search services to the public.
Apple is also reportedly working on “Web Eraser” - which blocks content such as ads, videos, comments and, perhaps, popups on web pages.
Apple is expected to announce Safari 18 on June 10th at WWDC.
